Paths Toward Independence For Disadvantaged

Even while some applaud others' misfortune, one nonprofit exists for the opposite reason: To  provide comprehensive training and support services that empower people with disabilities or disadvantages to live and work as valued members of our communities."

The nonprofit, Pathpoint, is a 47-year-old program devoted to helping create independence and job opportunities for developmentally and/or economically disadvantaged person.

"There is no typical PathPoint program participant. All are low-income, but the similarities frequently stop there. Every person has a unique story about the challenges and the successes on his or her path to living a productive, meaningful life," notes the website.
