Positive Business Conference Slated

Editor's Note:  As a former business owner, it has always been my belief that if the business's staff is happy, the business will prosper.  As a very small business, it was not always easy to manage profitability and serve the employees. As in the video posted below, in the long term, it made a difference.  This is contrary to the business philosophy of profits over all other things.

With greater resources and influence than ever before, business leaders have an unprecedented opportunity to enact positive change and realize the true potential of individuals, organizations, and society.

Positive business isn’t just about doing the right thing — it’s also about doing the right thing for your business. According to a recent Gallup poll, 51 percent of workers are not engaged, and an alarming 17.5 percent are actively disengaged. We believe this presents a valuable opportunity for organizations to increase purpose, passion, performance – and profit – through positive business practices that energize and engage workers.

...The Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan is a vibrant and distinctive learning community grounded in the principle that business can be an extraordinary vehicle for driving positive change in today’s dynamic global economy. Michigan Ross’ mission is to develop leaders who can solve global problems and contribute to the betterment of the world. Through thought and action, members of the Ross community drive change and innovation that improve business and society.

Michigan Ross Positive Business Conference
May 12-13, 2016

...At the conference, you’ll engage with thought leaders and the latest research on positive business approaches that yield extraordinary results. You’ll network with like-minded individuals from diverse industries and participate in practical hands-on workshops. Finally, you’ll leave with a plan to translate inspiration into action when you return to your organization.

Attendance is limited to ensure high-quality experiences for all, so early registration is recommended. We encourage group attendance to experience the most content and to help enact positive initiatives coming away from the conference. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please email pbconference@umich.edu.
